About me


My name is Stacey Collett trading as 'Right Beside You' and I work as a birth and postnatal doula in the East/West Midlands area. I have 2 children, both completely different birth experiences; leading me to be so passionate about supporting women through pregnancy and birth. I completed my initial training with Nurturing Birth and am a member of Doula UK- the UKs leading body. I believe that being a doula is a continuous journey of learning, experiences and self reflection. Regular training/study days/conferences are held to keep knowledge up to date and I am an active presence in my community, ensuring my local knowledge and contacts is extensive to the benefit of those Mums I support. I am also a trained 'Mother Supporter' for the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM) and am currently completing further training to become a breastfeeding counsellor. I have attended a Hypnobirthing course with a local practitioner; Wendy Nichols at Easierbirths, and am happy to support hypnobirthing mothers and have supported several Mums-to-be birthing this way and also used the techniques during one of my births. I have attended a Neonatal Breastfeeding Study day concentrating on preterm lactation, expression, establishing pre-term feeding, kangeroo care and various scenarios so if you are passionate about breastfeeding you can be assured I can support you regardless of the scenario. I hold a valid Emergency First Aid Certificate. I am also a volunteer for Homestart working voluntarily with families with children under 5. Apart from the huge number of people with different scenarios I will support doing this, providing me with invaluable experience, you can rest assured when booking me for postnatal work that I have an enhanced CRB check. I also chair a voluntary group in the area, organising social 'meet ups' for local Mums. This group is at present over 220 people strong and I am astounded at how well this has taken off and take great pleasure in being able to offer this group as a resource for the Mums I support. I am 110% committed to supporting women and helping them achieve the births they want and can cherish I am passionate about providing women with all of their options so that they can make informed choices about their birth and their babies I believe in women's bodies and the natural ability they have to birth and nurture their young. I believe it is strong people who recognise the need for support and the importance of precious time with their newborns.
